Installing the Aerogenics roofrack mounts
The Aerogenics roofrack uses the 4 original mounts on the Honda Element and has additional legs to distribute the weight throughout the perimeter of the roof.
- Prior to installation of the 4 Aerogenics mounts, you will need to remove any original mounts that are on the car.
- The 4 mounts are L brackets that are identical. They will need to be assembled with bolts going through the 3 slotted holes, the mounts, and into the original 3 thread holes in the car.
- The straight side of the L bracket should point to the outside of the car (see below pictures).
This is how the bracket should look like when installed. You can use a 10mm socket for the bolts. Hand tight this for now, the built in slots will allow you to adjust the roofrack during installation. You will need to tighten all of the bolts when you are done with the installation.
Installing the side rails
Each side (left / right) of the roofrack is made of three pieces: front, middle, and back.
If you are standing in front of your Element, looking at the car, the left will be on your the passenger side and the right will be on the driver side (referencing left hand drive cars). The side rails are labeled with their location.
We suggest starting with the middle piece and adding the mounting plate to connect the front and rear side pieces.
Middle piece of the roof rack (left side) with the mounting plate.
Mounting plate installed, make sure it's oriented in the correct position. You should not be able to see any part of the mounting plate protruding once the front and rear pieces are installed.
This is how the mounting plate looks from behind once the front piece is installed and bolted to it. Left side view.
Make sure to also install the cross bars at the same time. They are held on by two short bolts on each side. The cross bar with 4 holes through the body are for the front wind deflector.
The picture below has LEFT-B on the piece. This is for the LEFT BACK (towards the rear) of the car.
Installing the roofrack legs
The front and rear pieces of the roofrack has two vertical holes that are design for a L bracket to be used as extra support.
For example: Passenger Side Left Back corner of the roofrack (LEFT-B piece)
Left back corner, inside view. Make sure the legs are snug against the roof of the car. This is ensure the load is evenly distributed.
Right back corner (RIGHT-B)
Inside view of Driver side, Right Back corner (RIGHT-B)
Repeat this for all of the remaining legs.
Installing the wind deflector
The wind defector is held on by 4 longer bolts and nuts that go through the wind defector and the 80/20 cross bar that has holes drilled through it. These 4 long bolts will be perfect in length once the nut is installed on the other side (see pictures below).
Make sure to tighten all the bolts prior to using the roofrack and driving.
